PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma
What is it, and why is it so great?

PRP gets its name from the fact that it uses your own blood to harness powerfully ‘regenerating platelet rich plasma’ (PRP). This plasma contains a high content of growth factors; the cells responsible for regeneration and repair in our bodies.

How Does it Work?A small amount of blood is taken from you and then treated in a centrifuge to harvest the platelet rich plasma. This plasma is rich in growth factors. The plasma is then re-injected into the face to stimulate collagen production for plumping and lifting and to improve skin texture and tone as well as improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Will PRP be for me?PRP can be used to address a wide variety of facial ageing and skin concerns. It is suitable for both men and women of any age (over 18) and skin type. As with all treatments you will need a consultation with Dr Daly before any treatment to check for any conditions such as platelet dysfunction syndrome, sepsis and chronic liver pathology which may make you unsuitable for treatment.

Is it Painful?It can be a little uncomfortable but topical anaesthetic is used to minimise any discomfort and most patients find the treatment very tolerable.

How long is the Procedure?It should only take around 40 minutes.

What’s the recovery time?PRP has been used for many years now with no reported major risk factors or side effects whatsoever. The kit that we use is sterile and disposable, used only once for this patient and disposed of afterwards. There is extraordinarily little downtime with the procedure. Your face may look a little pink immediately after treatment but this will resolve in a couple of hours.

What results can I expect?The skin will also appear firmer, and lines and wrinkles will be visibly improved. Texture and tone will also be improved, and volume can be restored resulting in a lifting effect. Results will typically last 12-24 months depending on how much you take care of your face.

HOW MICRONEEDLING WORKS

Hyaluronic Acid fillers
Face and Lip fillers (dermal fillers) are substances injected into your face. They fill lines and wrinkles and add volume to areas such as your lips or cheeks.

This is not a permanent process and how long they last depend on things like the type of filler and where its utilised. The usual time span is around 6 to 18 months.

Most dermal fillers in the UK usually contain a natural substance called Hyaluronic Acid.
